Hiker climbing Yosemite’s iconic Half Dome dies

An Arizona hiker fell to her death when ascending Half Dome at Yosemite National Park on Thursday’s granite peaks, the National Park Service reports.

Danielle Burnett was climbing the aspect of this trail that was favorite when she dropped over 500 feet.

When park rangers came according to park officials, Burnett was lifeless.

It is uncertain what caused. The incident remains under investigation.

Half Dome rises nearly 5,000 feet above Yosemite Valley and is among the park’s trademark shores. Guests vie for among 300 spots published to finish the trek, each summer.

The cable path was erected to assist hikers to finish the rise. Since that time, the granite cliff has been climbed by tens of thousands for a few of the greatest viewpoints of nature.

The parks support revised the Half Dome license system in 2010, limiting the number of walkers.

Before the limitation, officials considered overcrowding contributed to a rise in deaths and injury. On the summit, as many as 1,200 visitors might be seen the road.
